Life

What choice do we have?

When your leaves turn to amber, to rust? Solis occasus est…

In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise
At the moment of my life when the world is new
And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me
To be brave and strong and true
And to fill the world with love my whole life through

And to fill the world with love
And to fill the world with love
And to full the world with love
My whole life through

In the noontime of my life I shall look to the sunshine
At a moment of my life when the sky is blue
And the blessing I shall ask will remain unchanging
To be brave and strong and true
And to fill the world with love my whole life through

In the evening of my life I shall look to the sunset
At the moment of my life when the night is due
And the question I shall ask only God can answer
Was I brave and strong and true?
Did I fill the world with love my whole life through?

Did I fill the world with love?
Did I fill the world with love?
Did I fill the world with love
My whole life
As sung at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary

  1. Aaahh, from ‘Goodbye, Mr Chips’! So very special and such sweet memories! When you and I were young and very much in love, we went to see this film in Somerset West. We arrived home very late that night. I was grounded for the whole September holidays – but it was worth it! And the lyrics still ring true.
